Charming and relaxed living

Two comfortable and stylish holiday apartments on the Moselle Heights in Kail. Stay away from the hustle and bustle and close to local attractions, directly on the Moselsteig hiking trail, near Cochem, Eltz Castle, and much more. Built around 1920, the former village school now offers a 100 sq m apartment with a garden and terrace on the ground floor, as well as a 75 sq m apartment on the first floor for your holiday in the Moselle/Eifel region. 

Apartment 1 on the ground floor

These were originally the classrooms of the village school. We have largely preserved the old larch floors, installed a cozy wood-burning stove, and designed everything to be inviting and conducive to a special time.

Everything is provided, from the XXL living area to the fully equipped kitchen, large beds with comfortable mattresses and a luxury bathtub.

From the south-facing, light-filled living room, you can access the garden via the terrace, which features a rose pavilion, seating, and a barbecue area. A shortcut also leads directly from here to the spacious playground.

Incidentally, you can see the playground from the terrace and the kitchen.

In 3 bedrooms you will find a total of 4 double and bunk beds, a comfortable sofa bed, so that with the additional sofa bed in the living room there is room for up to 10 people.

The bright, cozy apartment is approximately 75 sqm and accommodates 3 to 6 people. It combines the charm of the original and imperfect with a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. Renovated in 2020 with great attention to detail and a sense of the building’s original character, the apartment delights guests with features such as its original wooden floors, a wood-burning stove, and the use of ecological, non-toxic building materials.

Family-friendly, workspace, Wi-Fi

A supply of firewood included in the price, always available during the cooler months, along with a small library, promises pleasant days—even if the weather invites you to stay indoors.

With a spacious, bright south-facing living kitchen, two bedrooms, and a living room, it is also ideal for a family holiday (a small, rarely visited playground is directly adjacent to the property). From the windows, you can enjoy views stretching to the Hunsrück or even to Maifeld and Koblenz. The small, quiet Eifel-Moselle village of Kail is an excellent starting point for hiking, cycling, and cultural or historical excursions in the surrounding area.

Amenities

In approximately 75 sqm, you will find everything you need—even for an extended stay. From a book corner, Wi-Fi, board games, and a juice machine to a great kitchen equipped with an espresso pot and a French press for coffee. The use of natural building materials such as clay and lime plaster, organic paint, and oiled solid wood makes the stay comfortable for allergy sufferers and sensitive guests.

There is also a seating area in front of the house with a barbecue available.

I am a passionate, artistically creative craftsman and was able to acquire the old village school in 2015. Over the past years, I have renovated the three floors into living units with love for original details and using various natural materials, while trying to preserve the charm of the old building. Now, I am happy to offer visitors to our beautiful Moselle-Eifel region a cozy place to stay from which they can explore the area.
